Another favorite by Nietzsche:
And we should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once. And we should call every truth false which was not accompanied by at least one laugh.
Universe, if you are out there, in 10 years my passport hasn’t seen a single stamp. Sending it back in untouched seems like such a dirty thing. I’d like to laugh and dance a little bit on some different soil, see some art before reality sets in.
Any ideas? You being so big and all?

That’s it! I’m sick of watching everyone else travel all over creation. I mean, good Lord, how hard can it be? What’s getting in my way? The expense? A language barrier? Exchange rates? Justifying spending the money or taking the time away from work/school/routine? Always finding a reason to stay within the 48 states (yes, even Alaska and Hawaii don’t make the cut). Right here, right now, I’m starting the 10 Countries in 10 Years project. First step, renew the dang passport! This time I’m not wasting $40 or a trip to the post office!
Good for you! I know what’s stopping us (damn money). I will travel vicariously through you (hopefully not for the full 10 years… it shouldn’t take that long to recover from two kids, two cars and a house in three years… right?). Bring on the stories!
We threw caution to the wind and lots of money at a European tour about five years ago. It was great. We almost didn’t go, but I am so glad we did.
DO IT. DO IT. DO IT.
Life is short, baby!
I’ve been reading so many blogs lately discussing the whole “Seize the Day” theme. It’s really so true, grab today, book that trip! Our time here is so short! Good luck!!
You go, Julie! The way we do it, the more you travel, the easier it gets … (and it doesn’t hurt anything but the checkbook to have the kids older too). We haven’t ventured abroad with the little ones yet, but we’ve done enough here that I’m confident it would be GREAT!!! Where is your first stop?
